 SPEED ROCK COMMITTEE �SAVES� THE WORLD CUP OF TRENTO DUOMO SQUARE

When talking about sport climbing we can only think to Trentino and to Valle di Daone, hosting 8 editions of  Speed Rock, the most hard and spectacular competition of speed climbing world cup circuit. It is an happening that in a few years has become an actual "cult" for climbing lovers, favoured by its unique location (Valle di Daone) and its routes on the wall of the Enel Bissina dam, which are 25 meter long against the 13 of other international competitions.

In the last years a new speed climbing competition was born in Trento. As Speed Rock, it is a unique event, taking  place in the city central square: the "sitting room" of Piazza del Duomo, gem in the Trentino capital, on the occasion of Mountain Film Festival (Film Festival della Montagna).

The previous organizing committee, after putting the competition on the international circuit calendar for 2009, decided to abandone the event, creating a"vacuum" that might have presented Trentino, Italy and italian climbing in a bad light.

So, thanks to FASI support as well, Speed Rock Committee leaded by Alessandro Togni decided to take matters into its own hands and, counting on the precious help of Rock Master Asd, will organize the Trento Speed Climbing.

With an important piece of news: Trento is going to have its record wall, thanks to "SintRock & Ecogrips" of Arco, the only authorized firm in Italy. For the first time the 15 meter high wall will conform to IFSC standards and it will be possible for athlets to set the world record.

The competition is scheduled on 25^th april (or on 26^th just in the case of bad weather conditions) as part of Trento Film Festival della Montagna 2009.
