Speed Rock appointment is in Daone Valley where the Climbers will climb on the Bissina Dam.

The absorbing challenge will be back on the Bissina Dam on 1st and 2nd August .

In 2001 Tomasz Oleksy won the first edition of Speed Rock. He probably didn’t know that so many other champion would have climb on the same route after him.

Speed Rock is the “race of the dam”, not one just like others, but one fo the most original and riveting of the World Cup, that goes on year after year on the “big wall” of the Bissina Dam, in the valley of Daone.

A spectacular event that makes thousands of people stay bated breath.

It will happen on Saturday 1^st and Sunday 2^nd, on the forth stage of the World Cup circuit, after the Tarnow, Trento and Chamonix ones.

As unusual as fascinating, the racing field will be the vertical wall of the Enel Bissina dam, 85 meter high, on which they create a route of 25 meters, the longest and hardest route of the world for “speed” competitions.

The event, as usual, is a proposal of the dinamic Speed Rock Committee, with its president Alessandro Togni and many youngers of Daone, experts in the organization of this and its collateral events.

Leader of the male world ranking is the russian Sergej Sinitsyn, at the second place we have Evgeny Vaytsekhovsky, winner in Chamonix, and at the third place Sergey Abdrakhmanov, who hasn’t applied yet for Speed Rock while its countrymen already have.

The female ranking is leaded by Edyta Ropek, followed by Anna Stenkovaya, who won in Trento.

 Both the leaders have good memories of Daone: Ropek won last year and is the holder of the female record with its 25”19 in 2008, and Sinitsyn get the first place on the 2004, 2006 and 2007 editions. The male record is 15”66, setted by Evgeny Vaytsekhovsky two years ago.

And what's more, in 2009 there will be something new in Daone: there will take place the first edition of Paraclimbing, a climbing event for disabled athlets who will climb next to the World Cup route.
